Florence Welch, in her first public announcement post the appointment on the roster stated that her and the bandmates would be “honoured” to perform at the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, and even posted a picture with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters wishing him the best! The caption read:

“…We are honoured to have been asked to step in, and we hope we will be able to give you as good a Friday night as the Foo’s would have…”

While there was some level of disappointment regarding the cancellation of the Foo Fighter’s performance at the festival’s 45th year, Eavis’ announcement was filled with awe and hope for Florence + The Machine!

Eavis went on to say in an interview,

“Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”

With Florence topping almost every chart at this point in time, and riding the high wave of her career with her new album “How Big How Blue How Beautiful“, headlining Glastonbury was not impossible, and with the festival in a couple days – one can only wish her all the best at the Pyramid this year!
