The New Zealand comedy band will perform for the first time in the USA in three years.

“New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo” A.K.A. “the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand,” have confirmed a reunion after a 3 year hiatus. Flight Of The Conchords, made up of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, will be seen headlining the Newport Folk Festival on July 22.

This could also signal a full fledged Flight Of The Conchords world tour though there is nothing definitive in sight yet. A tour has been in the talks since the past couple of years, but it is only now that the comedic pair has announced official US dates.

The Newport Folk Festival’s bid to invite out of the box acts coupled with the duo’s live performances, which has gained them a worldwide cult following, will surely be an interesting mix to watch out for though comedy is relatively uncharted territory for the festival. This year’s lineup includes Father John Misty, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Ray Lamontagne , The Oh Hellos, St. Paul & The Broken Bones and more to be announced soon.
