Delhi is at its magical best at this time of the year. And when a gathering such as the Weekender made its way to the city, we all knew we were in for something special

Explaining how exactly you feel is an art in itself and The Sherp went through a rush of feelings that overlapped one another several times in these two days. Here’s an honest attempt at penning down how the magic of Delhi played a huge role in escalating the happy feeling at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender:Β Β

1. A sense of belongingΒ

As soon as we stepped into the spectacular venue, we felt a sense of belonging to the place, something like home. Hopping from one stage to another, just lying down on the grass and absorbing whatever music came our way – we could be ourselves and tune out of the chaos in an instant. The Dewarists stage seemed to transform into a hypnosis lesson each evening, as the sun died out and openly welcomed the pleasant chill to take over.Β

2. Winter warmth

There wasΒ anΒ incredible sweetness in the typical Delhiites’ manner of dialogue and we fell in love with it. It’s quite comfortingΒ when you’re addressed with the words β€˜aap’ instead of β€˜tu’, and engaging in open conversations with the crowd at the venue, as well as listening to people converse in their endearing tone was soothing. Basically, The Sherp loves Delhi folk. We sang along with the Tetseo SistersΒ and a number of people around us did the same; they were just marvellous.

3. Back to Kindergarten

There was so much to do at the festival, that we weren’t just bound to a certain genre of music;Β one felt like a child at an amusement park. We wanted to paint at the KOOVS activity stall and jump around to win a free drink at the obstacle course, but we also wanted to grab our own beanbag and update our Snapchat stories. Just like kids, we got too bored of one thing and always hopped around to check out the newer stuff.Β

4. Freedom

Listening to your favourite music and letting it soak into your system is a wonderfully liberating experience. At the same time, catching something you’ve never heard before also opens up your perspective of music. The variety of music on offer was elegantly put together; each and every individual had the chance to tune out of their routine lives and freely enjoy their favorite sounds. We shut our eyes and enjoyed the Indian Ocean show, and we stomped our feet when Killwish opened the Micromax Mega Mix stage.Β

5. Withdrawal

As the clock edged towards the dying moments of the festival, we felt as though we needed some more of it.Β After theΒ music halted, we walked around looking for something to do or someone to speak to, trying to keep ourselves within the venue for as long as possible, unwilling to let the vibe die. There was anΒ agonizing walk towards the parking area after Amit Trivedi‘s performance, and we were simply dragged ourselves out of the venue with mixed feelings.
