Phil Anselmo and his band Down are no longer welcome at the FortaRock festival after his “White power” salute at Dimebash.

Phil Anselmo has come under fire from the music community and fans alike for his atrocious behaviour at the recent Dimebash event. After his performance, Phil Anselmo was seen signalling a Nazi style salute and shouting “White power.” This led to the removal of his band Down from the FortaRock 2016 lineup and the issuing of a statement on the festival’s website :

“After the recent outbursts by singer Phil Anselmo during the Dimebash event in the US, his band Down is no longer welcome at FortaRock. Anselmo ended the show in the US with a Nazi salute and shouted “White power”. There has been close consultation between all parties recent days, since we wanted to make a well informed decision. On that basis, the decision is made to cancel the act. We want to make clear that there is no room for racism or fascism on FortaRock.”

Phil Anselmo later uploaded a video in which he apologized for his actions and said it was totally uncalled for and not representative of his true nature at all. He also claimed that it was an inside joke but it was misconstrued and asked to be given another chance.
