This is a first for any Indian city. It also means you won’t have toΒ drive long distances to attend those gigs!

This is definitely great news for all you people in Delhi, India. It’s now the first city to get single-window clearance for events, which basically makes it a lot easier to host events. This means that all the major gigs and festivals that have been happening in Gurgaon and Noida can actually take place within the city!

The Bacardi NH7 Weekender bringing A.R Rahman as the headliner may have been the catalyst forΒ this decision, because it’s the first event afterΒ Zubin Mehta’s recent concert at JLN Stadium to get single window clearance. In another win for the Weekender, the Delhi government will collaborate withΒ EEMA (Event and Entertainment Management Association), and involve itself in the marketing for the festival!

Delhi’s tourism minister said in a statement,β€œWe have streamlined the process of holding events in Delhi. We are creating an atmosphere of holding big events in Delhi, which wasn’t possible earlier. Pehle Gurgaon, Noida ya kisi aur jagah hote thay event. Now we have decided to host big events here in Delhi in partnership with the private industry. It will be after many years that AR Rahman will be performing here.”
