At this year’s edition, the Coachella Valley festival will offer free HIV testing to all attendees.
Get Tested Coachella Valley is an organization that focuses on HIV testing and awareness in California. Since its inception two years ago, the organization has hoped to initiate testing for HIV at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, according to Desert AIDS Project CEO David Brinkman. Starting this year, the organization’s goal has been realized.
The disease claims nearly 39 million lives every year, so we’re super glad to see free testing being initiated at large-scale music festivals. Perhaps other festivals will soon follow Coachella’s lead. Since this is free and not very time-consuming, you may want to get tested if you plan to attend Coachella this year.
