Mark your calendars folks! The 5th Annual Covelong Point Classic Surf and Music Festival will take place from the 25th to 27th of August, 2017 in Kovalam near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Last year’s edition saw over 15,000 people attend the festival over the course of three days.
The Covelong Point Festival focuses mainly on promoting Surf, Music, and Yoga in the country. This year, they are offering a ‘Yoga Shala pass’ which gives attendees access to a wide range of yoga and meditation workshops, holistic healing therapies, massage sessions, music performances and intimate classes with renowned instructors from around the world.
Covelong is also India’s first surfing village. It has quickly become a hub of surf culture in South India and is considered as one of the top surfing destinations in the country. The Covelong Point Surf Competition is an international level surf competition that attracts surfers from across the globe and will be hosted by the Covelong Point Social Surf School.
The festival is not just for yoga and surf enthusiasts. They will have three stages with an incredible music lineup, this year, showcasing a panorama of different musical styles and artists hailing from across India and around the globe. Be it any genre, funk to folk, alternative to electronic – they will have it all. You’ll be introduced to a whole lot of talented independent musicians as they’ve got an amazing lineup for you. Maalavika Manoj aka Mali, The Fanculos, Indosoul by Karthick Iyer and Bemet from Israel will be the big acts performing on the Beach stage on Saturday. Dance Troupe – Covelong Point Surf Boys will also be performing on Saturday. Medium Rare, Skrat, Hip Hop Rapper Divine and the Raghu Dixit Project will be taking the stage the very next day.
