No one puts the magic in festivals quite like Iceland does.

The 2017 edition of Secret Solstice is all set to go down from June 16th to the 18th in the beautiful capital city of Reykjavík in Iceland. But wait, the organizers have just revealed some exciting news for all ticket holders. Turns out, there will be a special opening ceremony with none other than the Queen of Funk and 10 time Grammy winner- Chaka Khan herself! The superstar will be joining Icelandic acts SSSól and Fox Train Safari for this tremendous event on Thursday, 15th June, just a day before the festival begins.

“In particular, we’re thrilled to have legendary local super act SSSól attending our opening ceremony, as part of their final tour marking the band’s 30th anniversary,” said Secret Solstice Founder Fred Olafsson when speaking on the announcement.

Keeping in tradition with the festival since 2015, a special secret guest will be playing at the 2017 opening ceremony. However, the names of the artists will not likely be revealed until the day of the festival. In the past two years , Busta Rhymes and Sister Sledge have taken this slot.

Not to forget, Native American and Basque Gypsy artist JoaqoPelli, will grace the stage taking over the breathtaking city of Reykjavík before the festivities commence, filling it with magical vibes!

The festival already boasts of a fascinating line-up that includes Foo Fighters, The Prodigy, Rick Ross, Big Sean and Anderson . What’s even better, the extra day comes at no extra cost! This includes for those who are  existing ticket holders (including VIP and other higher level tickets), as well as those yet to purchase a full festival ticket.

However, if all you want is a little taste of the exciting opening event, a very limited 2,000 seats are available to the public for just the opening ceremony.
