In a shocking turn of events, news has been revealed that Bonnaroo hit an all time low of ticket sales in 2016.Β

Although Bonnaroo doesn’t publicly declare their ticket sales ever, but The Tennesean calculated the numbers following a request to the Coffee County government budget office. The reports said that sales went down to 45,537 which was a drop of 46 percent from their all time high back in 2011.Β With an average price of 324$ per ticket, they saw $9M less in ticket sales as compared to 2015.

A lot of industry experts have stated that the lack of bigger and better headliners as a reason for why the ticket sales have dropped. With the festival market also being highly saturated year after year, that might have been a huge reason for the drop.

In June the festival released a statement saying “For the past 15 years we’ve been extremely fortunate to have over a million fans share the Bonnaroo experience with us, while our attendance is slightly lower this year, the Bonnaroo community is as vibrant as ever and excited about celebrating this milestone year on The Farm”.Β

Bonnaroo’s best year for ticket sales was back in 2011 when the headliners were Eminem, Arcade Fire and Widespread Panic. They sold 80,594 tickets that year.

Everyone has their high’s and low’s. Hopefully they recover from this downfall soon!Β
