The festival is back and we know who is going to be playing.
The Mahindra Blues Festival is back for its seventh edition in 2017 at the prestigious Mehboob Studios for another round of smooth jazz music on the 11th and 12th of February, 2017.
This year’s line-up looks as enticing as it’s previous editions, starting with three-time Grammy nominee and electric blues vocalist Shemekia Copeland, who opened the festival back in 2011 with her deep root in soul music. This year, she will be back with new material from her album ‘Outskirts of Love’.
Joining her will be another performer who is returning this year (good news for fans); Quinn Sullivan – the 17-year-old blues prodigy who has share the stage with the biggest icons in the guitar world like Eric Clapton, The Roots, Los Lobos and mentors B.B King and Buddy Guy.
India’s very own Blackstratblues a.k.a. Warren Mendonsa will be back at the festival along with Americana soul singer Janiva Magness, who will make her festival debut. Grainne Duffy will be combining her Celtic influences to her blend of blues and soul rock music.
Finally, the festival will be close its 2-day festivities with Supersonic Blues Machine, whose members include drumming legend Kenny Aronoff, bassist/producer Fabrizio Grossi and award-winning guitarist Lance Lopez. Joining them onstage will be Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame and blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales.
Talking about the seventh edition of the festival, Chairman of the Mahindra Group – Mr. Anand Mahindra stated, “The seventh year of the Mahindra Blues Festival is surely going to live up to what Mumbai expects – a world class festival with a world class line-up. Join us in welcoming Shemekia and Quinn back to the Mahindra Blues Festival along with the other fantastic Blues artists. We are delighted to see Mumbai’s Mahindra Blues tribe grow year after year.”
