It all started in his bedroom for 18-year-old Tim Bergling where he would produce and remix tracks. After a chart-dominating β€˜Levels’, Avicii has achieved almost overnight success.

The young Swede has achieved a meteoric rise that is unparalleled in house music. Today, this 24-year-old sure knows how to get a party started.

So what has changed for Avicii since his last visit to India?

A slew of massive releases like his collaboration with Lenny Kravitz β€˜Superlove’, β€˜Silhouettes’ and finally the incredible β€˜I Could Be The One’ with Nicky Romero.

Having his single β€˜Last Dance’ previewed on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1.

Releasing a track called β€˜Two Million’ after hitting two million likes on Facebook!

In September 2012, Avicii became the first DJ to headline Radio Music City Hall in New York.

So why the name β€˜Avicii’? Some are still not clear on that. Buddhism would say it has a dark overtone to it because β€˜Avici’ refers to the lowest level of Buddhist hell. On the other hand, in the ancient Sanskrit/Pali text, the same word means β€˜without waves’. Well, The Sherp has found the answer! Watch the video below to know what β€˜Avicii’ really means:

β€˜Bromance’ (in the literal sense) has actually played a considerable role in his path to success – be it Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia or even his manager and mentor, Ash Pournouri – they’ve all helped him reach where he is today.

And while the world was busy giving labels Avicii’s music, bursts forth β€˜Wake Me Up’ – his single that proved he is here to break the boundaries of genres. The track has become such a rage that hundreds of other artists took to YouTube to upload their cover of the track. Check out the top 10 covers of ‘Wake Me Up’ here.
