Anoushka Shankar To Tour Across India This Month

The classical music Gods are showering us with so much love!

For the promotion of her new album “Land of Gold”, Anoushka Shankar will be performing across 6 cities in India in the month of December and this is the best news ever.

The singer/sitar player has been given critical praise for the album, even on “Later with Jools Holland”, Britain’s top contemporary music show with millions of viewers from all over the globe. She has been on a tour since the beginning of the year and will be making her way to India after performing sold out shows across Europe, North America, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.

The Indian leg of the tour kicked off in Chennai on the 2nd of the month, then Mumbai on the 3rd, Pune on the 4th and after a few days off will start again on the 9th in New Delhi, 10th in Bengaluru and will end on the 11th in Hyderabad with tickets ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 5,000.

She spoke about the album saying, “Land of Gold is the culmination of my journey to the interior, channeling my distress at the situation in a constructive way, exploring the stories of the voiceless and dispossessed. The central message of Land of Gold is the recognition of the resilience of the human spirit and of our capacity to find the place where enduring hope resides. Everyone is, in some way or another, searching for their own ‘Land of Gold’: a journey to a place of security, connectedness and tranquillity, which they can call home.”

She has worked with some incredible artists like Sri Lankan rapper and refugee M.I.A, Björk’s musical director Matt Robertson and celebrated dancer Akram Khan to name a few.
