10 Things You Should Know About Lenka!

As mentioned earlier, the whimsical queen of melodic pop,  Lenka Kripac  is all set to perform at blueFROG tomorrow as part of the Divas Of Rock Tour. Here are a few essential must-knows about the talented singer.

1. As a teenager Lenka studied acting at the Australian Theater For Young People where she trained with actress Cate Blancett.

2. She’s 35….and looks nothing like it! Sigh.

3. Before her music became popular TV show anthems, Lenka had quite the acting career going on. She has starred in the Australian ABC-TV drama series ‘GP’ as Vesna Kapek in the 1990s. She has also guest starred in other quite a few Australian TV serials and feature films.

4. Her talents don’t end there. She has a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a major in sculpture.

5. Her music has featured on tonnes of popular TV shows and is a regular on episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.  Think – ‘Trouble is a Friend’, ‘There’s No ‘I’ in Team’  and ‘These Ties That Bind’.

7. To those unfamiliar, Lenka describes her music as ‘whimsical, melodic folk-pop’.

8. As Lenka Kripac, she was a member of the Australian electronic-rock crossover band Decoder Ring for two of their albums.

9. Lenka takes active part in the making of her music videos.  Every one of her stop-animation paper art videos have been created by her and James Gulliver Hancock, who is incidentally also her husband.

10. Shadows is  Lenka’s first album as a mother, so in one song she uses her newborn son’s heartbeat to open the song. (Here’s your cue to melt!)
