After keeping a very low profile for most of the post ‘One Last Tour’ period, Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell got back together as ‘Axwell Λ Ingrosso.’ Prior to their much anticipated Sunburn Arena tour this September, The Sherp lists 10 facts you probably didn’t know about the Swedes

1. Departures

Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell have their very own residency at the Ushuaia Beach Hotel In Ibiza called Departures. It’s a fresh clubbing concept coined by the two, and takes place every Wednesday at the popular Ibiza Club. Other artistes featuring on it’s weekly roster include – Alesso, Armand Van Helden, Dirty South, Jess Glynne, Kiesza, Martin Garrix, NEW_ID, Oliver Heldens, Otto Knows, Zedd & others.

2. When It All Began

The two met back in 2002, and along with Steve Angello (who is childhood friends with Sebastian Ingrosso) the three went on to form one of the most popular DJ super groups in 2008 – the Swedish House Mafia.
3. Share Your Selfies With Axwell Λ Ingrosso
There’s an official Axwell Λ Ingrosso photo app, using which, you can edit your own images with the lambda emblem and share it on your social media portals, as well as the official Axwell Λ Ingrosso Website. The app is available for download on the App Store + Google Play.
4. The Rise

In 2011, Sebastian Ingrosso burst onto the dance scene and was ranked #26 in the DJ Mag list that year. He became the highest debut entry in DJ Mag history, a feat only recently surpassed by Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5. A year earlier, in 2010, Axwell received his first Grammy nomination along with Dirty South for their remix of “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap. He went on to receive 5 more nominations since.
5. Teenage Throwback

Most of Sebastian Ingrosso’s early work was done in collaboration with Steve Angello, with whom he released a number of tracks. While Axwell started off producing acid techno under the moniker OXL. “Listening Comprehension Test” was the name of his first record.
6. Inspirations

Sebastian Ingrosso has been deeply inspired by Michael Jackson, and at Sensation White 2009, he paid a huge tribute to him at his performance. Watch it here:

Axwell grew up listening to electronic legends Prodigy and his track “I Found U” was inspired by them.
7. Hollywood Calling
Last year, Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell created the soundtrack for Disney and Pixar movie “Monsters University”. It’s called “Roar”.
8. Growing Up
Sebastian Ingrosso was born in Grahamstown, South Africa, and grew up in Stockholm. His Italian father owned two indie record labels in Sweden that specialized in techno music and he turned young Sebastian on to house music. Axwell taught himself to play the drums by age nine. Four years later, the 13 year old Axwell exchanged his drums for a computer so he could create each element of his music independently.
9. Mentees and Shenanigans

Sebastian Ingrosso mentored Alesso through the early stages of his career up until he became a formidable star in the EDM circuit. In an interview with MTV in 2012, he said he felt like a ‘Proud Father’ following Alesso’s success. Till date, he almost always includes his groundbreaking collaboration with Seb, titled ‘Calling’, in his performances.

Axwell doesn’t like warm up DJs playing his tracks. In 2007 a warm-up DJ made the mistake of playing Axwell’s “Feel The Vibe” before his set. Axwell took some ice from a champagne bucket and threw it at him. The DJ later claimed he didn’t know it was Axwell’s song.
10. Alternate Careers

In an interview with Arjan Writes, Sebastian Ingrosso confessed that he would’ve pursued a soccer career, if not a DJ/producer. He has an ear for really good music, and his taste is impeccable.
Speaking of ears, Axwell has Tinnitus, which is an annoying hum or ringing in the ears. In an interview with DJ Mag in 2009 he said, “It was bound to happen, but at the moment I can manage it. I’m obviously worried about my long-term hearing but for now I’ll live.”
