The Highfield Festival is a music festival held annually at the reservoir Hohenfelden (south of Erfurt) and has its origins from 1998 to 2009. The name derives from the places name from Hohenfelden (English Highfield – High field). Since 2010, the new venue of the festival was StΓΆrmthaler lake at GroΓpΓΆsna district Leipzig. The festival has established itself in recent years as the most important indie rock festival in the former East Germany. Since the first held festival, the number of visitors rose steadily from 10,000 to almost 25,000 in 2006. Organizers are FKP Scorpio, they align many great festivals in German-speaking countries, and Semmel Concert , which are particularly active in Bavaria, Berlin and East Germany. In 2008 the festival was sold out with 25,000 visitors for the first time.
