Tragedy hits Black Rock City
Thursday morning took a turn for the worse, when a woman named 29 year old Alicia Louise Cipicchio, died from fatal injuries after falling under a bus carrying participants at the annual Burning Man festival, Nevada.
Event officials, representatives of Black Rock City and the Bureau of Land Management and Perishing County, have expressed condolences and sympathies to the family, friends and campmates of the victim and are also providing support to anyone who needs it.
“This is a terrible accident,” said Burning Man co-founder Marian Goodell. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and campmates. Black Rock Rangers and Emergency Services Department staff are providing support to those affected.”
Currently organizers are working with investigators from Pershing County Sheriff’s Office in order to figure out the series of event that lead to the incident and are urging anyone with additional information to step up and help the investigation.
The County’s office has made contact with the victim’s family and will soon release additional information.
