2021 has been a great year for Hip Hop so far. Almost every big notable artist has dropped his project, or is going to drop soon. Artists like J Cole, Kanye West, Tyler the creator, and Drake have dropped their albums this year. Playboi Carti can also be counted as an artist whose music was trending in 2021. That being said should we expect more from 2021? Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott have teased their albums, but will we get them this year?
Utopia 2021?
Travis Scott is known to create an entire experience surrounding his album. Astroworld was an album that did wonders for Travis Scott, though not critically, the fans loved it. The album was so successful that Travis Scott is now one of the biggest rappers in the industry. His Arstrowrld tour was one of the best concerts you’d ever go to, and Scott’s energy is unmatched.
His new project, UTOPIA, seems to be taking inspiration from Astroworld. Both album names are names of someplace, where Travis wants us to go when listening to his music. That being said, the term Utopia refers to a place where there is eternal peace and happiness. If Travis is able to convey this message through his music alone, he might win his first Grammy!
Now that all his compatriots have drooped their music, it only seems logical for Travis to drop his album. The other thing that was holding his album back is possibly the pandemic. As mentioned earlier, Travis believes in creating an experience in his concert, so if he is unable to tour his album after dropping, he won’t drop. Now that the situation is under control, we should expect the release date to be around November-December.
