Hyper Pop is the new kid on the block in the music industry, and it is taking the music world by storm. The influence of the Hyper Pop genre will soon become more relevant than ever.
But what is this new genre of music that many seem to absolutely love or absolutely hate?
What is Hyper Pop?
Hyper Pop can be defined as a euphoric amalgamation of hard-hitting 808s, aggressive synths, and a high-pitched feminine voice. Though the genre features many artists who are completely opposite to this description, you have to take into account the experimental nature of this genre.
Where did it come from?
The origins could be traced back to Grimes 2012 album Visions in which she used a lot of hyper elements. In 2013 a producer who goes by the name of AG Cook established a music label called PC music which had many prominent hyper pop stars like GFOTY and Sophie.
The hyper-pop genre is almost a parody of the pop genre of now. The experience of listening to hyper pop for the first time can’t be described. The music feels different – different from what we hear on the radio or on TV.
Artists like 100 Gecs and Charlie XCX are the most popular ones right now. Especially Charli XCX with her 2019 self-titled album, it was totally different from the music that she was known for. The album was a great success for Charli, she somehow had managed to create one of the best albums of the decade!
As the genre kept evolving, more and more artists began accepting its presence. Rico Nasty a rapper, decided to make a song with Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs called iPhone.
Glaive, Dorian Electra, Brakence, 100 Gecs, and many more will keep pushing the boundaries of this genre in the years to come. With so many great artists it won’t be wrong to say that Hyper Pop is here to stay!
