Miami’s nightlife contingent was left shell shocked this past week, as one of the pioneers of the city’s party circuit, Alex Omes, was found dead in his apartment. Alex Omes and Russell Faibisch are responsible for putting together one of the world’s largest dance music festival franchises – the Ultra Music Festival. They eventually parted ways after severing all connections with the Winter Music Conference.

Medical examination announced him dead on Monday at about 10 pm, but the cause of death has not yet been revealed.Β In a statement, officials with the festival wrote,

β€œThe organizers of Ultra Music Festival extend their deepest condolences to the family of Alex Omes and are saddened by the news of his passing. We will continue to remember and celebrate Alex for his love, passion and contributions to the Electronic Dance Music community.”

Before his involvement with Ultra, Omes was publisher of D’VOX magazine, which highlighted Miami’s burgeoning dance music culture, and he also worked as a bouncer at Cameo during the ’90s. Alex Omes’ greatest legacy still lives on through Ultra, and his contribution towards building the nightlife circuit will never be forgotten.
