The three-day Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival that starts today hosts some of the most mouth-watering events

This Irish festival is probably the Tomorrowland of food events. In the three days starting today, this food extravaganza will witness a host of people flocking together for the love of oysters and seafood.

A much-anticipated event on the Irish calendar, the festival was founded 60 years ago, by hotelier, Brian Collins in 1954, and since then, has been held in September every year. The most interesting thing about it is that the city of Galway also happens to be the last remaining wild oyster beds in Dunbulcan Bay.

The three-day affair features a variety of food and entertainment attractions — from bands and Mardi Gras toΒ World Oyster Olympics and theΒ National Oyster Opening (shucking) Championship.
