Methods to smuggle drugs into music festivals have only gotten more creative with time, and this one might just be pushing the limits.

Two desperate men allegedly tried to stash drugs near Sydney Olympic Park in the week leading up to Stereosonic, a huge Australian festival that’s taking place this weekend. Their plans were pretty unlikely to succeed from the very beginning. Police were called to the venue when a man was observed trying to drill into the side of one of the buildings in the area on Friday. Police Inspector Chris Laid, who was at the scene said the man was trying toΒ “install something [in the building] that could conceal drugs.” The 21 year-old fled the scene on seeing the police, deserting his doomed plan.

On Tuesday, another man, 22 years old, was reportedly “acting suspicious” near the venue. Police were called in again, and the man’s car was searched. Searching his vehicle, they located 95 ecstasy tablets, probably intended to be stowed away so he could sell them at the festival later. These incidents are things the police in the area have been expecting, which is why they’ve kept constant vigil.Β “We know this happens so we’ve been regularly sweeping the area with drugs dogs over the last few days to make sure we find stuff before the park is fully locked down,” Inspector Laid said.
