DaBaby returned to the Rolling Loud festival at Citi Field in New York on Thursday with support from his friend and colleague 50 Cent. This appearance from the rapper marked his first time at the festival after he was dropped for using homophobic slurs on stage during a July 25 concert in Miami.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, emerged onstage alongside 50 Cent as the rapper’s special guest at the show, which the show organizers had approved of, TMZ reported.

Sources told the outlet that the Rolling Loud organizers approved DaBaby’s involvement, despite his bigoted remarks at the festival’s Miami edition over the summer.

β€œIf you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of the deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” he had said during his July performance. β€œLadies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”

DaBaby’s comments were quickly condemned by the LGBTQ community and its allies. The backlash was very severe. He had lost multiple performance bookings as well as brand partnerships, forcing him to make an apology.

His remarks were also condemned by artists including Questlove, Madonna, Elton John, and his one-time collaborator Dua Lipa, who said on Instagram she was ‘surprised’ and β€˜horrified’ by the remarks he made in Miami.
