We’re getting closer to the big day in Mumbai.

So the Global Citizen Festival in New York just happened and thousands poured into Central Park to show their love. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the fifth edition of the event included performances from Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, and Metallica, with guest appearances from Eddie Vedder, Usher, Ellie Goulding, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, and Yandel.

But we had a bit of India going about it too. Priyanka Chopra took the stage to co-host the evening with Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris and Salma Hayek. She had a few things to say about the event taking place in Mumbai on November 19th.

She also introduced Poonam Mahajan on stage with Chris Martin by her side (sigh). Poonam flew down from Mumbai specifically for the event and took the stage to say, “Namaste and thank you New York! On behalf of the Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi, we are thrilled to invite Global Citizen and all of you to India, to join us in our tireless efforts to fight for issues of gender equality, sanitation, water, and quality education for all. India will lead the global effort to achieve the global goals. Over 800 million young aspirational Indians are determined to lead the fight against extreme poverty. Mumbai like the city of New York which never sleeps… is the heart of Indian culture and soul, our city is the home of Bollywood and Cricket and we are ready to welcome you– with the universal language that crosses all cultures – music. The Hon. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and I are thrilled to welcome all of you and especially excited to welcome Chris Martin and Coldplay.”

All that we can do is count the days. Tick Tock.
