The collaboration between Linkin Park and Steve Aoki for the single A Light That Never Comesis not unknown. But what you probably don’t know is that the track can be unlocked as part of a free 3D Facebook game called ‘LP Recharge’! Once you unlock the song via the game, you can stream it for free on Xbox Music for 14 days. Fans can also watch exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of how the collaboration came about. Post the launch of the free streaming, the single will also be made available on other platforms including Xbox 360, iOS and Android.

The compelling 3D game-play is an action/strategy game featuring puzzles and adventure along with fighting elements and a global community goal. The game is set in a not-too-distant future where the planet’s natural resources have been depleted by humans. Machines and an elite minority have seized the society along with the little energy stores that remain. As the player, you have to fight your captors and recharge the planet with clean and sustainable energy.

A Light That Never Comes made its surprising debut at Tokyo’s Summer Sonic Festival last month during Aoki’s performance where he was joined by the band members of Linkin ParkMike Shinoda and Chester Bennington. Mike Shinoda, who is an art school graduate with a BFA in illustration, has also contributed to the design work of the game. He said, “Making the song with Steve, premiering it through the Recharge Facebook game, and debuting it via Microsoft’s Xbox Music — I think it’s all indicative of our band’s commitment to experimentation and pushing boundaries.”
