Sad news for Sunburn 10.
U.S. electronic dance music duo – Krewella were denied visa to enter the country to perform for Sunburn 10 in Pune this year. The festival is scheduled to be held from the 28th to the 31st of December and Krewella were scheduled to play on the 29th of December.
This comes as a really sad news for the festival goers as they were looking forward to watching the headliner sisters Jahan Yousaf and Yasmine Yousaf spin some sick beats. Coming from a Pakistani heritage, the sisters were denied visa after relations soured between the two countries in the light of the recent Uri attacks. Over the past few months, Pakistani artists in the country have had to pack their bags and leave after being denied permission to work here. It’s quite sad that our cultures have to bear the brunt of this backlash, but people’s sentiments have to be adhered to.
The sisters took to Facebook to make the announcement and even shared a handwritten note. They even acknowledge that their team tried every possible avenue but were unsuccessful and hoped the state of affairs between the two countries could get resolved soon so they can be reunited with their ‘desi krew’.
We’ll miss you girls!
