Art and music come together for an epic festival experience.
The 12th edition of the Lightning In A Bottle Festival is all set for a rocking edition with a fresh line-up. This transformational festival, which will be taking place on the Memorial Day Weekend – May 24th to May 29th at San Antonio Recreation Area in Bradley, puts art and music at the centre stage! With a history of unique and trendsetting line-ups, the tickets for this event have sold out over the last two years.
This year, the festival will also feature upcoming artists who will soon be headlining festivals across America in the years to come. This time, the line-up serves as a crafty compliment towards the community spirit that has seen participants gather to learn about environmental stewardship, cultural awareness and art and its beauty across the whole landscape. Not to forget, the internationally acclaimed dance music stages the festival boost of.
With a range of over 100+ musicians taking part in this year’s edition, the line-up promises to be the festival’s most eclectic group yet! Bassnectar will bring the veritable earthquake vibes of his early days, way back when LIB was held in Santa Barbara. You can also groove to the transcending and lively signature sound of electronic icon, Bonobo, who is fresh off his chart-topping album release.
UK-based sensation Troyboi will bring his high-octane skills to the party along with RÜFÜS DU SOL, who will take a short hiatus from selling out shows across the country to bring a scintillating mix of live and electronic instruments to the mainstage. Feel the impact of a drum-heavy set with the ear-catching sounds of Kaytranada’s ‘99.9%’, one of the most celebrated albums of 2016.
House fans can head on over to the Lightning Stage as the pop-savvy live electronic show of Bob Moses will enthrall you for sure. Or perhaps the world-famous Woogie Stage is where you need to be if you want to catch the seminal sounds of legendary techno innovator – Richie Hawtin and Leon Vynehall‘s hard-edged take on house music.
As if the dynamic mix of sheer musical talent wasn’t expansive enough, the curators at ‘Do LaB’ are packing in new genres for the first-time ever. These include trance elements like Hedflux and Perfect Stranger as well as drum & bass flavours like Ivy Lab and Calyx & Teebee.
Female talent will be on full display too! The organizers have arranged for performances from top women artists like Jhené Aiko, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, Wafia, Vallis Alps, Climbing PoeTree, The Seshen, Madame Gandhi, Elohim, Erica Dee, spacegeishA, tINI, Lauren Lane and MASHA among others.
Another major feature of the festival, The Grand Artique, also known as the rustic rabble-rousers of festival revelry, will be adapting from a completely engaging theatre experience at the festival to a dedicated stage with a meatier line-up than ever before. “The Grand Artique has been a growing fan favorite inside the festival for nearly a decade now and after last years incredible delivery with that magnificent stage and stacked music lineup it was an easy decision to make them an official stage at LIB. We have no doubt they will create and bring some of the festival’s best entertainment.”
In addition to the variety of musical talent on display, the festival will also showcase gorgeous art work, some of which are a regular feature at Coachella.
Oh, and the festival even caters to the environment! Thanks to its healthy dietary options, free water stations, composting and recycling infrastructure, a “Leave it Better, Leave it Beautiful” ethos and other green initiatives; the festival has won the ‘A Greener Festival’s Outstanding Award’ six year’s and counting! And, they’re not done yet as the organisers promise many more initiatives to come!
