The cancellation of the the Soundwave Music Festival has rallied bands and fans to join hands and create a new heavy music festival christened ‘Legion’ via Crowdfunding.

The cancellation of the Aussie Soundwave Music Festival, due to poor ticket sales caused a huge ruckus among heavy music fans but thanks to John Sankey of Devil You Know, there is hope for a replacement festival to be held this March. Taking the crowdfunding route, Sankey conceptualized Legion which features American bands Darkest HourBattlecross and Australian acts Caligula’s Horse, Darkc3ll and Rick Dangerous & The Silkie Bantems in its inaugral lineup.

In their first announcement festival organizers said, “Each of these bands have offered their truly amazing support and are ready to get loud and sweaty on the Legion stages.” “Please know: We have many more sets to announce and are very excited to bring you a complete line-up, including Headliners as soon as possible, this is just the start!”

The crowdfunding goal on Pozible of A$3,275,000 is already up A$103,550 since its launch yesterday with 20 more days to go. If the goal is met, the festival will be held across an impressive 5 major cities. Stay tuned to The Sherp for updates on the fate of this unique initiative – a tailor made festival by the fans, for the fans.
