This February 7, South Mumbai’s famous Kala Ghoda area will be be bustling with the energy and vibe of the city’s favourite cultural arts festival

 

For Bombay, each year begins with a a serious dose of art, music and phenomenal music- thanks to the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival held every February, in Mumbai and this year’s overall theme is ‘Sparsh’.

Culture, Dance, Food, Literature etc, The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is a shining example of the abundant talent that our country possesses as performers, culture enthusiasts from all over India, unite for this festival. For the last 16 years, the KalaGhoda festival has been entertaining Mumbaikars and others during the month of February, from the firstΒ SaturdayΒ of the month till theΒ next Sunday. This year, the festival is scheduled to begin onΒ Feb 7Β and end onΒ Feb 15.

 

The community based celebration that binds the city of Mumbai is held at the beautiful and historic precinct of Mumbai, The KalaGhoda Art District. The Festival has grown exponentially, and is hugely successful, drawing over 150,000 people from all over the city to 350 events over 9 days. Tourists from different parts of the world plan their trip to Mumbai to witness the KalaGhoda Arts Festival. Funds raised from the festival go towards the restoration and upkeep of the area. Several heritage buildings and institutions in the area have benefited from this. It has traditionally offered various programmes in Visual Art, Music, Theater Dance, Street Acts, Heritage Walks, Literature and Workshops for children as well as adults. The USP of the KalaGhoda Arts Festival is that there is absolutely no discrimination, it is open to all and entry is free for all events, workshops, theatrical acts, etc.

Keeping up with this year’s musical theme, ‘Resonance’, the festival aims to encourage Β and give a platform to music genres from all over the world. This year artistes from Poland, France, Israel and Germany will be performing at the festival. Indian acts include Tejas Menon, Sidharth-Suhas and even India’s first acapella group Voctronica,Β Symphony Orchestra of India and Amit Trivedi.
