Mumbai’s largest cultural gathering, just got bigger this year.

Now in it’s 16th year, The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival will now be supported by a brand new partner – Hindustan Times.Β  After ending its 8 – year association with the Times Of India, this cultural extravaganza promises to be bigger and better than its previous editions.

There’s no need to introduce this globally renowned gathering, but for those who aren’t completely aware, given below is a short synopsis of it.

The Festival has grown in stature and popularity, attracting visitors and participants from other parts of the country, as well as all over the world. One of the most prominent cultural events in Mumbai, The Kala Ghoda Festival is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association, formed with the object of maintaining and preserving the heritage art district of South Mumbai through this festival. Β This cultural feast celebrates varied art forms, including music, dance, theatre etc., and also involves seminars and workshops related to arts.

The festival incorporates visual arts, music, theatre, dance, cinema, literature, lectures, seminars and workshops. You can also treat yourself to a culinary section where you come across brilliant display of Food Art along with demonstrations conducted by renowned chefs and experts.

The Literature section incorporates book launches, poetry sessions, workshops etc. and conducts panel discussions with popular authors. You can also treat yourself to music and dance performances by popular artists and groups belonging to classical, contemporary, Indian folk and international dance forms. The film section also organizes tributes to famous personalities.

The Kala Ghoda festival has plenty in store for kids as well, with the festival including plenty of fun filled activities. The festival also has some heritage walks that provide people an insight into the heritage and culture of Mumbai. In short, the festival presents plenty of events which reflect the rich history of art in Mumbai.
