What a way to celebrate national pride!
While the rest of us celebrated the start of a new year, the people of Finland had an even bigger reason to celebrate the year 2017. Β As of January 1st, the country proudly enter their 100th year of independence from Russia! With the Finnish Declaration of Independence been officially signed on December 6th, 1917, this new year has major significance for natives of the gorgeous country. And can you think of a better way to celebrate such a joyous and momentous occasion than with one of the most iconic musical stars?
Having created music for over two decades, Finnish DJ and record producer Darude has created a number of hits. He even takes credit for taking Finnish electronic music to different parts of the world. His second studio album ‘Rush’ reached #11 on the Billboard Dance Charts in 2003 andΒ #4 on weekly album charts in Finland.
To celebrate his country’s happy and triumphant occasion, the star brought in the New Year’s celebrations with a special performance of his hit song ‘Sandstorm’. Oh and he even timed the drop in the song with the exact moment the clock struck 12! If that isn’t enough to give the year a wickedly cool start, we don’t know what is!
