Internet + cat videos + film festivals = Happy times.

Walker Center, Minnesota announced in March that it was done with the famed Internet Cat Video Festival and would no longer be able to host it. The festival’s entire library of cat videos and pictures were to be donated to the Minnesota Historical Societyย but fans of the festival were surely not feline fine about it. So when St. Paul Saints (the baseball team) andmyTalk 107.1 (local radio channel), decided to revive the festival, everyone was overjoyed.

The Internet Cat Video Festival has been a favourite for the past four years, with upto 10,000 people attending every year. When it was first started, organizers expected only people the neighborhood to turn up. But instead the festival received a much bigger turnout as attendees traveled in from other states to attend the festival. This year, however organizers were facing difficulties with funds and permissions. But the baseball team and the radio channel have graciously stepped in, making sure this a’meow’sing festival continues its happy run.

To make this news even sweeter, the festival is also accepting your very own cat video entries that you can send it atย catfestmn.com.ย Tickets go on sale on June 7,ย for the August 9 event, which will donate $1 per ticket to Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN. General admission tickets are $10 and VIP tickets to the Securian Club, which includes food and drink, are $75. Kids ages 5 and younger areย free.
