Brussels was rocked by multiple bomb blasts on Tuesday which jeopardized the future of the festival but organizers have decided to go ahead with the event.

The unfortunate terror attacks at the Metro and Airport in Brussells caused widespread mayhem with several fatalities. Such incidents always create an atmosphere affecting the daily functioning of a city. Speculation ran rampant about the fate of the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival but organizers have in a show of strength decided to conduct the festival anyway starting March 29.

The BIFFF’s main venue, the Bozar Centre For Fine Arts, is located near Brussels’ main train station and only a 20 minute walk from Maalbeek station.Β The centre also posted a message on its website featuring the Belgian flag saying: “Bozar, as an arts centre that is open to everyone, attaches great importance to its fundamental values, that’s why we are open since this morning. A big welcome.”
