Spain’s bull festivals aren’t new. Participants throw caution in the air as they run in front of chasing bulls. However, things didn’t end well for three participants, who were gored by a 620-kilo bull at the Toroย Enmaromado festival.
The three participants were injured and taken to a hospital after the debacle. According to another Spanish publication, another participant collapsed during the run and was seriously injured.
Several activists and organizations have spoken against the week-long event, citing severe abuse and harassment of bulls in Spain before they’re taken to the slaughterhouse. The festival, however, dates back to the 17th century. There were claims that children and drunk people participated too, andย Spanish political party and animal rights group PACMA plans to lodge a complaint regarding the same.
