Lately, a lot of DJs and producers in the dance music arena have been falling ill or getting injured.

Even if you’re not a devout follower of DJs’ everyday lives, you have certainly heard of some of them being under the weather of late. Well, looks like 2013 is an unfavorable year for DJs as far as their health is concerned. From arbitrary things like food poisoning to the more dire gunshots, producers are facing and coping with it all!

Consequently, this has disrupted the progress and tour schedules of some of your favorite artists. The Sherp hopes this is just a cluster of erratic coincidences in the dance music realm. Whatever the circumstances, here are a few stories concerning the ill-condition of DJs and producers so far:

1. Avicii

Illness: Stomach-related ailment

Thousands of fans were disheartened this year when Avicii had to cancel dates in Australia in March and Dubai and India in the month of April due to stomach-related issues. In the past, he has been very candid about his alcohol intake alongside his frantic tour schedule, and has also been hospitalized.

2. Nicky Romero

Illness: Mono

This young sensation chooses to keep his mind and body sound by abstaining from alcohol and cigarettes. Unfortunately, he was forced to cancel a number of gigs in May due to health complications. In a recent Facebook post, he said he had been diagnosed with mono and reported that his doctor has ordered him to officially rest. However, he’s found a way to organize his schedule which will allow him to tour and won’t affect his illness.

3. W&W

Illness: Heart & Lung Complications

Just a while ago, Willem van Hanegam of W&W suffered from “heart and lung complications”. Although the cause of the situation is obscure, it was serious enough for them to cancel their gigs for the latter half of June.

4. Traxman

Injury: Shot During Robbery

Gunshot wounds to the legs may seem trivial, but people have died from those injuries. Chicago juke producer Traxman was shot and robbed of his passport and some money in Chicago. Fortunately, fans helped raise $1300 to help him recover his lost funds and get a new passport!

5. Bingo Players

Injury: ‘An Emergency Procedure’

Paul of Bingo Players had to undergo an emergency procedure whose condition is apparently still continuing. Nevertheless, in the case of EDM duos, all was not lost. Only a handful of shows were affected as the other half of Bingo Players, Maarten, did the needful.

The Sherp hopes these legends recuperate rapidly from their ill-health and are back on the stage and in their studios making new tunes!
