The results of the Nielsen Music Sales chart for just a day since the death of singer Dolores O’Riordan indicate a rapid increase in sales of The Cranberries’ music and albums. The sudden surge may even put The Cranberries on Billboard’s charts at the end of the month.
The music world was shaken up by tragic news this Monday reporting the death of one of alternative rock music’s most iconic voice, Dolores O’Riordan. The lead singer of Irish rock band, The Cranberries, passed away at a London hotel. The singer was reportedly there for a brief recording session. Read our full report here.
In the wake of her death, The Cranberries were faced with more surprises as their overall music sales grew by 11,094% on Jan 15th as compared to the previous day, Jan 14th. Music sales were pretty negligible for The Cranberries before Dolores’ death, following which there was a rapid surge in both album sales & digital downloads. The top 5 selling songs of The Cranberries on Jan 15th were: “Linger” (10,000), “Zombie” (9,000), “Dreams” (8,000), “Ode to My Family” (2,000) and “When You’re Gone” (1,000).
Tracking the sudden surge in music sales of The Cranberries, their songs and albums may even appear on the Billboard charts at the end of the month.
