Have You Heard Of The London Design Festival?

Colourful, artistic and extravagant, the London Design Festival is nothing short of amazing. The design capital of the world is all set to host this year’s edition of the Mecca of design festivals from September 19-27. There’s new talent, new installations, and more events than ever before.

One of the biggest and best design events anywhere in the world, the London Design Festival is ready to swing into action with over 350 events crammed into 9 days. With the very latest and path-breaking trends in product design, technology and architecture to fashion and interiors, this festival has been dubbed “a brilliant and buzzing gathering of international talent”.

Since 2009, the London Design Festival has taken up residence in The Victoria and Albert Museum. The entire festival is spread out across London for the 9-day period, with awe-inspiring exhibits, demonstrations, talks and workshops, and shows that respond to light, sound, movement, and even iPads!

Everthing at this festival is interactive. You can pick up a guide at the V&A, pick the exhibit or a demonstration and make your way towards some amazing art. A dramatic set piece for this year is ‘A Bullet From A Shooting Star’ – a collaboration between artist Alex Chinneck and Hong Kong property developer Knight Dragon. 115ft high, it’s a huge inverted pylon that look like it’s been thrown like a javelin to the ground.

The V&A, as well as several places across London will have countless installations that’ll tickle your brain in every way possible. The Designjunction is where you can go to soak up the latest fashion trends, with shows and pop-up shops with excellent merchandise. If your heart lies in interior design, Decorex is where you would want to head, to see the massive courtyard exhibit and some gorgeous rooms by the best interior designers in the world. Make Your Mark is a series of free workshops for you to get your hands dirty and birth some art of your own.
