With the festival season in The United States coming up in full force, here’s The Sherp making sure you’re well prepared to grab your weekend festival fix. The second weekend of May promises some variety with the festivals lined up!
1. Austin Psych Fest / Levitation 2015
Where: Austin, Texas
When: May 8 to 15
This eight day long arrangement of some of the best music from the house of psychedelia comes back with a renewed vigour. The festival is now called Levitation, after a song of the same name by legendary act The 13th Floor Elevators, who are the most looked forward to act at the festival as they’re performing their 50th Anniversary Reunion! The line-up also features heavy-weights like The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, The 13th Floor Elevators who are performing their anniversary reunion, Thee Oh Sees and Primal Scream to name a few. A promised trip like no other!

2. Rock in Rio USA
Where: Las Vegas
When: May 8 to 9
Rock in Rio has been Rio de Janeiro’s biggest musical event, even having its own private stadium, the famed City of Rock. Now, traveling to USA for the first time, the festival is being hosted at the party capital of the country, Las Vegas where a nouveau City of Rock has been set up for its benefit. And the people rocking it will be Metallica, Linkin’ Park, No Doubt, Deftones, Of Mice and Men, Foster The People and the likes, before returning for a second weekend run the following week.

3. Big Guava Music Festival
Where: Tampa, Florida
When: May 8 to 9
Big Guava Music Festival is that one big weekend city getaway, we all want, but rarely ever have. There is great music, there are taco buses, fun rides to hop onto drunk, and craft beers for the same. With artists like AWOLNATION, Ryan Adams, Pretty Lights, Run The Jewels, Hozier, James Blake and The Strokes as the big names running the line-up, it’s bound to be one party. And all this in the breezy summer of Florida is just the icing!

4. Shaky Knees Music Festival
Where: Atlanta, GA
When: May 8 to 10
Now in its third year Shaky Knees has gone on to become one of the bigger indie music gatherings in the city of Atlanta. And most of that credit goes to the brilliant line-up that they manage to churn out year after year. This year features Neutral Milk Hotel, Milky Chance, Pixies, Tame Impala, The Strokes, Mastodon, The Kooks, Ryan Adams and many more. This is the festival that every indie lover’s got to be at!

5. Dreamscape
Where: Camp Rambelwood, MD
When: May 8 to 10
Dreamscape is the perfect encapsulation of the sentiment, ‘when reality ends and fantasy begins’. This tiny festival tucked in Maryland brings hyper-reality, camping, electronic music and partying to a single platform. Not only are names like Michal Menert, The Funk Hunters, Party Favor, Manic Focus and Metrik part of their line-up but be prepared to encounter people in their fancy fantasy garb!
