Watch Emma Watson’s Inspiring Interview With Malala Yousafzai At The Into Film Festival

“I am a feminist, and we all should be feminists, because feminism is just another word for equality.”

The opening of the Into Film Festival was pretty amazing, and how could it not be, when two of the leading ladies of global feminism have a conversation?

10,000 school children and teachers in the UK got to watch UN Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson in conversation with Nobel Peace Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai. In an event that marked the release of He Named Me Malala, the two amazing women discussed an array of topics including education, feminism and equality. Emma asked Malala questions submitted by students and teachers from across UK, about her ambitions for the future and her advice to the young people watching the interview. Malala also goes into detail about the supposed conflict between religion and education, and how she interprets Islam.

The film delves into Malala’s life, going behind the scenes from her being shot by the Taliban, to being singled out with her father for fighting for girls’ education. It follows her into her current life, where she’s a co-founder of the Malala Fund. Her advocacy of female education and fight against the rules imposed by the Taliban have turned into an international movement. Documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, who made the film, was also behind An Inconvenient Truth and Waiting for Superman.

Into Film Festival is a charity that uses film to educate five to 19 year-olds, with themes like Identity, Wellbeing and Achievement this year. It’s the largest youth film festival in the world, and this time it travelled all over the UK, offering thousands of youngsters the opportunity to watch some amazing films. One of the highlights this year was the live interview between Emma Watson and Malala Yousafzai, and you can watch it here!
