Toronto Politician Puts Music Festival On The Agenda To Woo Voters

Doug Ford, who is running for mayor, promises that if elected, he will bring to Toronto a festival along the lines of popular American events South By Southwest and Austin City Limits

In an attempt to increase his popularity amid a tough electoral contest, Doug Ford has promised that he will work towards giving Toronto a large-scale music festival. The politician spoke about this novel plan at a debate session.

While the statement was like music to ears for many people, Ford’s opponent in the election, the 19-year-old Morgan Baskin argued that he should focus on growing the festivals that Toronto already has than to start new ones.

Interestingly, when the news of Ford’s statement hit Twitter, the organisers of North By NorthWest — the country cousin of South By Southwest — responded with a sarcastic ‘Hi’.

The Sherp only hopes that Ford keeps his word if he elected as mayor.
