It was surprising, it was strange, but the image is pretty much imprinted in all our brains now.
During Drake’s performance at Coachella 2015, Madonna made an appearance to sing a few songs. Drake sat down in a chair, and the evergreen queen of pop decided to make out with him. Whether it was one-sided or not, we can’t really be sure, but it definitely looked awkward. Drake looked shocked/disgusted/like he was choking after it happened, and the internet exploded.
Drake’s reaction was pretty drastic, and in later comments, Madonna threw some serious shade. She said things like “I kissed a girl and I liked it”, and “Don’t kiss Drake no matter how many times he f**king begs you too.” She also got a lot of internet hate for it in general, with people wondering if it was consensual or not, unlike her iconic kiss with Britney Spears. But Drake denied that he was disgusted, posting a picture of the moment on Instagram with the caption “Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel 100 about that forever. Thank you Madonna.”
