Thom Yorke Played An Impromptu Set At Latitude Festival And It Was Brilliant

The Radiohead frontman playing a last minute set with Portishead during Latitude Music Festival was sublime.

Latitude Music Festival is known to have had consistently great lineups. This year was headlined by Portishead, Alt-J, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and a surprise set by Thom Yorke.

On the day of the festival, it was revealed that Thom Yorke, singer, songwriter, legend, would play a last-minute set at the festival. Prior to his own transcendent set, the Radiohead frontman delivered a surprise performance during Portishead’s set. You can watch a snippet of the performance below.

This was the first time Yorke performed songs from Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes and his other solo album The Eraser live, which, meticulously complex and quietly brilliant, made for an excellent set at Latitude. Listen to the album below.

Hardly any well-known band members can pull of making their way independently and not being overshadowed by their persona as part of the band. Yorke is just as eerily soulful alone as he is with Radiohead, but you know something’s different, darker, experimentally hesitant but also wonderful. And that’s Yorke for you.

Stay put for more festival related news.
