You can now attend a festival headlined by David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Armin Van Buuren at a discounted rate by donating a vial of blood.
Booking tickets for your favorite music festival can put quite a dent in your savings. Music festivals invest in a number of promotional activities to provide their fans with early birds and discounted passes, but a Romanian festival has found a way to benefit both the customer as well as promote a blood donation drive in their country through their latest discount coupon – blood.
Romania is home to Transylvania, the fabled home of the legend of Dracula, and organizers of the Untold Festival found a fitting way to drive ticket sales by using a blood donation hook to accelerate purchases. The festival is scheduled to be headlined by some of the big guns of the electronic music industry – Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Avicii and Adam Beyer to name a few.
The ‘Pay With Blood’ campaign will not only allow a massive 30% discount on the ticket price, but also contribute towards pushing the blood drive in country which a surprisingly low percentage of blood donors – a mere 1.7%. Here’s what Untold Festival organizing head Bogdan Bula said about the initiative (via the Guardian):
“Given that Romania faces an acute blood shortage in medical facilities, a campaign that takes inspiration from these myths in order to draw attention to a real problem is more than welcome”
The campaign has already begun and will run until July 24th across more than 40 blood donation centres in Romania. The festival takes place in the city of Cluj-Napoca from July 30 – August 2. Stay tuned to the Sherp for more details.
