The Super Bowl Festival Will Take You To Another Planet!

Football and space activities come together at the Super Bowl Festival!

In anticipation for the 2017 Super Bowl, NASA and some space flight companies will be joining hands to give Super Bowl enthusiasts an out-of-the-world experience, so to speak, at the annual Super Bowl Festival. This nine-day festival will commence on January 28th, leading up to the big game! With Houston being home to both, the Super Bowl and NASA headquarters at the Johnson Space Centre, it’s only fitting that the two come together to give the people of Houston, as well as travellers from all over America and the world, a unique experience that celebrates the two in all their glory.

The most exciting attraction in the festival will be a special Mars-themed ride called ‘Future Flight’. This fascinating ride will take riders on a one-of-a-kind virtual trip to Mars using virtual reality goggles on a 90-foot (27 meters) drop-tower ride. All this is courtesy of space company Lockheed Martin. Makes you wish you lived in Houston, don’t you?

Those who visit the 250,000-square-foot expanse of Super Bowl Live will “get a chance to see a model of NASA’s Orion spacecraft that’s used for water-recovery training, a replica of the Mars Curiosity rover currently exploring the Red Planet, a rover-like space-exploration vehicle concept that could be used for in-space missions or to explore planetary surfaces, space station exhibits, and other interactive space-related content,” according to a statement made by NASA.

The other space companies at the festival will be Aerojet Rocketdyne, Boeing, Orbital ATK and the Raytheon Company. You’ll even get to see a full-size replica of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, thanks to Northrop Grumman.

Pack your bags for Houston!
