Spotify brings music-themed islands to Roblox

Spotify has launched its own digital space on Roblox, called Spotify Island, allowing players to make music, play games, and interact with virtual artists, the company announced in a press release. Although it’s called Spotify Island, it’s more like a virtual archipelago — players can hop between other interactive music-themed islands that change throughout the year.

Spotify calls its digital island an “audio oasis,” which features distinct company branding, from the vibrant green color of the landscape to the heart-shaped “Like” icons scattered around the island that players can collect and exchange for virtual merchandise. The more hearts users collect, the higher they climb on the game’s leaderboard.

Spotify reveals that this “audio oasis” is full of virtual Easter eggs, that will give different advantages to the players. These players can also access Spotify’s beat-making stations by Soundtrap. It is a Spotify-owned digital audio workstation that allows users to collaborate remotely.

Additionally, gamers will be able to portal out of the main island to the themed islands “that will come to life throughout the year”. According to them , “These destinations will be filled with exclusive content, artist interactions, and themed mini-quests that are designed for both superfans and curious explorers.”

What Can You Do on it?

This is a new type of space for the popular gaming platform, Roblox, where fans can hang out and create music, get merchandise, and more. As soon as you enter Island, there’s background music you can play and pause as you please. Keep in mind that once you approach certain musical areas, you will hear sound in the background, even if you paused the main track.
