The Sherp’s Ultimate Lollapalooza Playlist

Paul McCartney, Metallica, DJ Snake, Alt – J, Tame Impala, Flying Lotus, Tyler The Creator and FKA Twigs are just some of the names featuring in the Lollapalooza lineup this year, and The Sherp is here with the perfect festival playlist to prep you up!

While The Sherp has spent countless hours readying you for various festivals- whether it be fashion, schedule, weather, or even camping, it truly does recognise that nothing turns around a festival like music does. And the only way to prep for a festival? By listening to a neatly-curated playlist featuring the top stars off a festival line-up, obviously.

But since no one has taken that task to work, we’re here holding the torch. So listen away, and prep yourself for the Lollapalooza 2015 music!

1. The key to a good playlist is to begin with a song that sets you on track. For good music, that’s what. So here’s some down-tempo hip-hop from Kid Cudi.

2. And for some more hip-hop, employing some A$AP ROCKY tunes.

3. And if you want to swing towards more prevalent hip-hop, here’s Tyler the Creator channeling some superficial existentialism.

4. But if you’d rather move on to some greatly serving downtempo electronic music, here’s trip-hop’s favourite princess – FKA Twigs.

5. Speaking of electronic music that is euphoniously soothing, Sylvan Esso seem to deliver the underwhelmingly beautiful punch.

6. If deftly produced electronic music is your anthem, Toro Y Moi delivers that aptly, along with vocals that makes dreams sound realistic.

7. While we’re on the subject of electronic music that sounds dreamlike, let’s mutually decide that Flying Lotus is a veteran when it comes to that.

8. And if you prefer your electronic music (featuring a good dose of hip hop) to be a lot more experimental and darker, Twenty One Pilots never disappoints.

9. And for heavy electronic music lovers, Nero drives straight to the point.

10. Of course there will be electronic dance music’s favourite anthem, delivered best by Dj Snake.

11. With some gracious dubstep, as that by Bassnectar.

12. The best way to move from heavy electronica to rock? The perfect dance rock amalgamation, just what Walk The Moon is expert with.

13. Much like the deep house tranquility that comes from the music of Kygo.

14. But if you’re someone who prefers a fair bit of vocal delicacy in your music, then George Ezra and his old world charm will work on you perfectly.

15. If you have it in you to appreciate George Ezra, then you have it in you to fall hopelessly for Father John Misty‘s retogressive beautiful tunes, armed with his soulful voice.

16. The best way to reel from that hangover is some prescribed effect of the kind of indiepop that only Alt-J is capable of.

17. And while we’re speaking of metaphysical lyrics spread out over new wave music, here is some TV On The Radio.

18. And who better than Of Monster and Men to deliver on indiepop promises.

19. While we’ve moved on to indie rock, let’s go back in time to the brilliance of Brand New.

20. If we’re going to go back in time we must absolutely appreciate one of rock’s most popular subgenre – the blues with some Gary Clark Jr.

21. And when we talk of blues, you almost obviously talk about contemporary favourites Alabama Shakes.

22. But if you’d rather delve into the mind and go psychedelic instead, you can always trust Tame Impala to deliver.

23. And when we speak of rock, a shout out to original veterans, the ever dependable, Lollapalooza headliners – Metallica.

24. While we’re at it, a huge shout-out to current festival favourites, the golden sounding Florence + The Machine.

25. But the talk of rock music is defunct without a reference to the Beatles-era. So here’s ending this playlist with the greatest musician of our times (sorry, Kanye!), the biggest name in the Lollapalooza lineup – Paul McCartney.
