A new destination. The same unadulterated fun!
After a successful edition in Mohali, Gaana Lager n Barrel Festival co-presented by Carling Club Glasses made its way to Delhi NCR. This power-packed edition went down in Gurgaon on October 6th and 7th, 2017 and took place at the very jaw-dropping venue called ‘Kingdom Of Dreams’.
Venue
As we just explained, Kingdom Of Dreams was a stellar venue to host the festival at. It is renowned, very easy to locate, experienced in hosting events on a grand scale and has all modern-day conveniences that one needs when spending a couple of hours at the festival. Though the area taken up by Lager n Barrel for the festival seemed to be a little smaller as compared to its expansive venue in Mohali, it surprisingly did well to accommodate revellers all through the two-day festivities.
As you enter the venue, you are greeted by selfie installations where attendees had a ball of a time stopping and posing by.
Walk in a little ahead and walk right into the entertainment centre a.k.a Bottoms Up Gaming Arena, where a host of fun games and interactive activities kept people busy in between music sets.
One of the main attractions of the event, the bar ofcourse, was located around here. A little ahead from there stood the food zone (or the Hops Bazaar) with a seating area in between where people could rest their feet and order a hearty meal.
Right in front of the food zone stood the grand stage. The backdrop of the stage was breathtaking, as the organisers made good use of their grand venue.

The performances
Although the Gurgaon set-list wasn’t as hard-hitting as the Mohali edition, the performers did a great job getting the crowd pumped up.
The first day saw bands like Runway Project and Tarkash open the show to a relatively smaller crowd. Yet, they kept the energy high and slowly people started pouring in to watch their kick-ass sets. Akhil Sachdeva followed up and brought the Punjabi flavour, one that the audience was craving for. Soon, Millind Gaba and Parmish Verma took the stage and brought the same fire-power, though Parmish’s act was a small abrupt one. DJ Sumit Sethi took the console towards the end and gave the crowd a good excuse to dance off their high.
The second day saw many more people pouring in. The first act to take the stage was Nissi Band, and they delivered in good ole rock fashion. Rossh and Gurnazar Live followed, with Gurnazar being his usual, delightful soulful self. Akhil’s set was the highlight of the day. After what seemed to be a slightly longish gap, The BollyYouth – a trio made up of Mohammed Irfan, Divya Kumar and Shefali Alvares, took the stage. Mohammed Irfan was the first of the trio to set foot on stage. His Bollywood hit numbers were a superhit with the crowd as well, with most of them singing along with him without making a single mistake. Divya Kumar stepped up next and his numbers were danceable and a whole lotta fun. Shefali Alvares and her powerful vocals did their bit in keeping energies high. The three then performed a grand encore, one that was well worth the wait. The night concluded with happy revellers leaving the venue utterly satisfied.
Food And Beverage
This time, unlike the Mohali edition, there was just one stall that catered to everybody’s food requirements. The options were not too diverse, and this was a bit of a let-down. But, that being said, the quality of food being offered was really really really good. The tikkas and pasta get a special mention here. Raw Pressery, the latest craze among the health conscious lot, had a stall right there too. Alcohol was primarily Carling beer and thankfully, they never seemed to run out of it. Beer cocktails were a hit with us, though many opted for a simple glass of unadulterated Carling beer.
To sum it all up
The Gurgaon edition of Gaana Lager n Barrel Festival co-presented by Carling Club Glasses might have been organised on a smaller scale as compared to its Mohali counterpart, but it still served its purpose and gave attendees a weekend break they deserved.
It’s not often that you turn down the chance to relish a heady concoction of beer, music, entertainment and food! Thanks for the good time, Lager n Barrel Festival!
