In Pictures: Holland’s Visually Brilliant Dekmantel Festival!

Dekmantel, Holland’s very own music festival has been making waves in Europe’s festival circuit.

The theme for this year happened to be space exploration, which resulted in some of the most creative minds come together to form a venue so visually bedazzling that it looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. The production team for the festival joined forces with the best in the industry to conjure up a main stage that looked like a massive mother ship from a different universe.

Dekmantel being known for it’s techno heavyweights handling the decks brought out a huge arsenal this year too, much to the delight of the thousands that attended. The headliner was the legendary Jeff Mills whose set perfectly complimented the Mother ship stage, while other names included biggies like Marcellus Pittman, The Black Madonna, Mike Servito, Antal, Daniel Avery b2b Roman Flügel, Moodymann, Digital Mystikz, Ben Klock and Call Super.

The other stages at the festival boasted of a green theme and included an actual greenhouse stage too. How cool! Although some people argued that there were way too many plants, it will still a cool initiative to spread a message!

2. The Acts

Azymuth, a jazz-funk band whose members are approaching 70 were a peculiar choice for a start to the festival. But they provided a refreshing start to the music festival by getting the crowd grooving to some slow and fast jazz.
