Would You Pay $1 Million For A Burning Man Ticket?

Re-sellers across the internet have been placing astronomical price tags on tickets for the Black Rock City festival.

Soon after Burning Man was in the news for it’s fragile ticketing website, another ridiculous piece of news has just surfaced about the tickets for the festival. According to website RGJ.com, a couple of re-sellers are trying to cash out their Burning Man passes at a whopping $1 million a pop. Scalping website Stubhub, is where it’s all going down, with a number of Burning Man tickets being re-sold for varying prices – $2000, $6000 etc.

Burning Man has, by now, gained a reputation for being a gathering for the bold, the hip, the outrageous and those seeking to find a different sort of thrill in life. Tickets for the festival went live last week, and the queue waiting to grab these has been immense. But in a shocking revelation by WIRED, it was found that about 200 software engineers who have the technical know-how about how the ticketing website – Ticketfly functioned, tried to cheat the queue and buy tickets for themselves ahead of others.

The demand for Burning Man tickets has sky-rocketed over the past year, and it’s no surprise that there are some who came across the idea of making a quite profitable business out of re-selling these. The $1 million tickets on the scalping website have been pulled down though, suggesting that the sellers gave up their ridiculous quest for becoming millionaires over night.
