You May Just Have To Wait Until Next Year For Major Lazer’s Next Album!

Sad news for electronic music lovers.

Worldwide sensation Major Lazer may not even end up releasing an album this year. Judging by the way their album ‘Music Is The Weapon’ keeps getting pushed back and delayed, 2017 might just be barren for Major Lazer fans in terms of new music.

Diplo spilled the beans in an interview with 103.3 (AMP) recently, revealing that although ‘Music Is The Weapon’ was supposed to be released last month on his Mad Decent label; it has been pushed back until August.

However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the producer revealed that the album may not even come out at all this year, as the group is currently focusing on releasing singles instead.

“We have enough songs [for an album],” the Mad Decent boss said in the interview, “but I don’t think people digest our music like that. The last record went gold but it took a year and a half to do that.”

“It’s the singles that keep us rising and get more people coming out to our parties. But if we put out four songs that go Top 5, then I’ll put the album out.”

Major Lazer have been in the spotlight off late, having worked on the now hit song ‘Run Up’ with top artists like Nicki Minaj and PartyNextDoor. They even teased fans of a collaboration with Ariana Grande in the studio, last year.

Speaking about artists the group have collaborated with, Diplo said, “The Weeknd, Travis Scott. We did another song with MØ. There are so many, like Camilla Cabello. We don’t know if they’re going to be for us or for them or where they might land, though.”

The electronic artists even made news after debuting their documentary about their iconic and historic Cuba concert at the Sundance Festival in Utah last month.

Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy their live performances and wait for some good news on the release.
