Lollapalooza Evacuated On Day 3 Due To Dangerous Weather Conditions

Lollapalooza 2012

When fans were asked to evacuate Chicago Grant Park because of dangerous weather conditions, many feared this might mean the entire day would be cancelled.

Day 3 of Lollapalooza was interrupted by a severe thunderstorm warning issued in Chicago, and the festival organizers evacuated everyone from Chicago Grant Park for a few hours. Attendees were sent to three emergency shelters – the Grant Park North, Grant Park South and Millennium Lakeside Garages.

But with the organizers working alongside Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), the gates were reopened by 3:30pm.

Artists like Moon Taxi, George Ezra, and Skylar Spence were among those whose sets were affected by the evacuation. But to the relief of the fans, the organizers kept their promise, and none of the acts were cancelled.
